Discover the behind-the-scenes of the making of a whisky unique in the world, Eddu Pure Buckwheat whisky.

Located in southern Finistère, 10 minutes from Quimper, in Plomelin, the Distillerie des Menhirs invites you to discover the inner workings of an innovative Breton company. We celebrate two emblematic products of our local Breton terroir: buckwheat and cider apples.

During a guided tour, step through the doors of our distillery and immerse yourself in the world of our pure buckwheat Breton whisky, our whisky creams, Lambig and Pommeau AOC de Bretagne, as well as artisanal cider. A chance to learn more about local raw materials, our artisanal expertise and our family history.

The different stages of your visit, accompanied by a member of our team:

1. You will discover the history of the Le Lay family, distillers for over 100 years.
2. In the warmth of the still room, where buckwheat and apples are transformed, you will watch the eau-de-vie slowly flow.
3. In our whisky and lambig cellars, you will breathe in the aromas rising from our barrels and hear the stories of Anne of Brittany and the fairy Morgane…
4. End your journey with a guided tasting, full of flavours and surprises.

Our shop advisors are on hand to help you make your choice and introduce you to our beautiful Breton region. During school holidays, we organise festive food and drink events.

Tasting is also available outside of tour hours:

La distillerie des menhirs de PLOMELIN est un lieu incontournable du bourg, elle se situe dans le bourg proche de menhirs, d où son nom! C est une entreprise familiale qui perdure depuis 1902! C est vous dire que chez les LE LAY on ne rigole pas avec la qualitée et un savoir faire qui se transmet de père en fils et propose une large gamme de produits ,le cidre  le pommeau et surtout un super whisky fait à partir de blé noir qui a été mis au point par GUY qui était un vrai génie 😯 sans cesse en quête de nouvelles idées.  Désormais ses fils ainsi que Anne Marie son épouse sont toujours là et continuent sur la même lancée 👍 je recommande vivement ce lieu de plus il y a des visites et des dégustations 😋 n hésitez pas à vous y rendre vous en prendrez plein les yeux 🤩😍🙏. Haben heute völlig unvorbereitet diese Destillerie besucht und ebenfalls eine Führung mitgemacht. Sehr empfehlenswert, sehr sympathisch und ausführlich war diese. Zum Schluss hin konnte man verschiedene Produkte ungezwungen verkosten und wer wollte, käuflich erwerben. Auch wenn man kein ausgesprochener Kenner von Whisky und Lambig ist, war es sehr interessant. Première fois qu'on visite une distillerie. Une excellente expérience. Un accueil agréable, des explications claires et accessibles à tous. Tout au long du parcours on sent vraiment l'esprit entreprise familiale avec des valeurs. Une bonne dégustation pour découvrir tous les produits à la fin. Make the most of your visit to the Distillerie des Menhirs and explore the riches of Finistère. Between the sea, heritage and Breton gastronomy, our region is full of activities to discover just minutes from the distillery.

The Tingoff menhirs
→ Opposite the distillery.

Enjoy the peaceful setting around the menhirs to unwind and let yourself be soothed by the sound of the stream. Picnic tables are available.

The Rossulien slipway and watermill
→ 5 minutes from the distillery.

Take the opportunity to go hiking or stop for a picnic at the Rossulien slipway. In the commune of Plomelin, stroll along the Vire Court of the Odet, admire the Château de Kerambleiz and discover the Rossulien Mill.

The city of Quimper, city of art and history
→ 10 minutes from the distillery.

Discover the historic centre of Quimper with its typical architecture. Wander its cobbled pedestrian streets and savour delicious local specialities.

The town of Pont-l’Abbé
→ 15 minutes from the distillery.

The capital of the Pays Bigouden will surprise you with its historic riverside centre and its many independent shops.
